Secure All of Your Pipes with a Pipe Hanger

Not many people think about the pipes that are under their home. That is until there is a problem with them. Often, this problem is so major that it requires new pipes and perhaps even a plumber to come out and fix the problem areas. Did you know that you can save yourself a lot of headaches and money if you secure all of your pipes with a pipe hanger? It is true and it does not mean you have to put a lot of effort into your pipes.

How Does a Pipe Hanger Help?

In some homes, pipes must stretch for a good way before regaining more support at a joint or a bend. This poses a problem when you think about how much weight may be held inside of those pipes at any time. Water is not light, especially not when it is rushing out of your home from a shower drain or the kitchen sink. It may not be a big issue for new homes, but over time, you will need to check the pipes under your home to make sure that there are no saggy areas. If you happen to see a low spot, that is the area you need to put more support. Support is easily given with a pipe hanger. You simply wrap it around the pipe that is hanging low in one area and attach it to the underneath side of your home. A few screws are all that it will take and you will never again have to worry about the pipe sagging in that area again. This is great news for homeowners who do not want to have to pay a plumber to fix their issues.

Do You Have Enough Pipe Hangers Installed?

All you have to do is get under your home and look at the pipes that you can see. Pay close attention to shower drains and the drains coming from your kitchen sink. You may even want to have someone in the house let water flow through the pipes so you can see how they respond to water rushing through them. If you notice them wiggling around a lot or you see them dipping down, you may want to go ahead and use a hanger so that the issue does not become worse. Otherwise, in a few years’ time, you could end up with grease clogs in the low spots that run from your kitchen sink to the sewer. This could lead to other issues along the way as well because pipes that are allowed to wiggle around will not have connections to other pipes that are secure. This may lead to leaks and clogs or other issues.

Do you really want to take a chance on it? Your pipes are important to the way your home functions. Without pipes that are supported and secure, you could end up with a plumbing bill that steals all your cash. Instead of spending hundreds for repairs, wouldn’t you rather spend $20 for a few extra pipe hangers? Most homeowners say, “Yes!”
