A Season for the Rhône

A full year of activities for discovering, appreciating and getting to know the Rhône River.
September 2007 to August 2008

A Season for the Rhône* is a full year’s project with the objective of promoting contemporary activities and uses of the. The project includes 4 major themes which reflect the diversity and the wealth of a wide range of events:
Scenes of the River – exhibits, visits, conferences, publications ...
The Rhône festivals – festivities, festivals
On the river – canoeing, kayak, jousting, dragon boats...
Discoveries along the Rhône – walking tours, outdoor seminars, nature hikes...

Although several activities were programmed in September, the official inauguration the Season took place on October 6th, at the High Rhône Port of Call at Brégnier-Cordon (Ain). The Rhône-Alpes Region (Didier Jouve), the National Company of the Rhône as well as the Department for the Environment of the Rhône Basin  (E. de Guillebon) were represented at the inauguration.
80 events have already been planned for the Season, from Lake Geneva to the sea. The agenda is available of the portal website www.fleuverhone.com

The aim of the Season for the Rhône, beyond the events linked to the river, is to incite the inhabitants of the Rhône river region to learn more about the Rhône and thus become closer to this precious natural resource.
With this objective in mind, several partnerships have been created with France 3–Rhône-Alpes and France Bleu.
Using its many media resources, Rhône-Alpes Tourisme will also relay the events of the Season.

*A Season for the Rhône is part of the « Culture rhodanienne » section of the Plan for the Rhône
