: Givors/Grigny Office of Fluvial Tourism:
The Office of Fluvial Tourism is a non-profit organization (French Law of 1901), created in November 1998. The Office is a logical extension of the cultural and research activities of the Rhône River Centre. Active in the cities of Givors and Grigny, the Office is directly implicated in the development of leisure and tourism on the river
Givors, an official gate city to the Pilat Regional Natural Park, has distinctive contemporary architectural ensembles ; notably, « Les Etoiles » designed by Jean Renaudie, which has received the official ‘20th Century Heritage’ Label. In 2006, The Greater Lyon Urban Community conducted a study for developing a network of five major architectural landmarks of the 20th Century in the metropolitan areas of Lyon and St. Etienne (Le Corbusier in Firminy and Eveux, Tony Garnier in Lyon, the ‘Gratte-Ciel’ ensemble in Villeurbanne and ‘Les Etoiles’ in Givors). The objective of this network is to promote and encourage the development of a cultural tourism offer of quality in the largest metropolitan area of the Rhône-Alpes Region.
