: River to river cooperation:
The France UNESCO Heritage Commission is collaborating with the Rhône River Centre on a program called « Rivers and Heritage » in order to promote river to river cooperation.
After the successful Rhône-Daugava exchange, carried out in 2004-2006, two new projects are being started in 2007/2008, with the Saint Lawrence and Ganges Rivers.
The first exchange has just been started between two schools; the Junior High School in Isle de Vienne (France) and the Saint Jean Berchmans School in Quebec (Canada).
The second exchange has been started in a class in Benares (India) and a class in the Rhône Region is currently being sought in order to complete the exchange.
Other contacts which have been made should lead to projects with the Senegal River in Senegal, the Western Dvina River, in Byelorussia and the Rhône in Switzerland (Valais).
